From Borneo to Berkeley and Beyond
Forays Through Hyperspace is a wild romp through mid-twentieth century culture–from Japanese concentration camps in Java during WWII into the mathematics of hyperspace. Saul-Paul Sirag was raised to be a Christian missionary but after graduating from seminary, he studied pre-med for a year before moving to U.C. Berkeley, where he studied mathematics and discovered theater. A few years later, he hopped a freight train to New York to “join the circus.” There he wrote, directed and acted in an Off-Off-Broadway play. After a couple years, he moved back to Berkeley, where he became active in the free speech and psychedelic movements.
